If you were to do a 6x80w ATI fixture you will be happy, no doubt.

Have I seen one in use in person? No. But I have heard from enough people that have them that they meet/beated their expectations.

As far as the 6", you won't really tell visually, the PAR #s will be a little lower but that is a good place to put lower light SPS such as Montiporas and on the sand its great for acan's and favias and things like that.

    T5 question

    Hello,

Dr. Frag, I have a 72 gal bow with a 48" 6X54W Nova Extreme fixture.
    Current lamp configuration is:

    F
    ATI Blue +
    UVL Super Actinic
    UVL 75/25
    Current 10K
    ATI Blue +
    ATI Blue +
    B

I also have available a Current Actinic 460 nm and UVL Aquasun. I thought the aquasun was too bright when I tried it where the Current 10K is now.

Anyway, the tank is bright but color is still somewhat washed out, and with bulbs being fairly expensive I'm not sure which way to go to improve the color/fluorescence of the look.

    Suggestions? Thank you very much.

Washed out? I would most likely say its do to the heavy blue that you have on the tank. I have noticed, even a combo of white such as Aquablue and Blue+s will cause certain corals to look great but others "washed out" if you will.
Blue can be a great color but when you are dealing with reds or yellows or similar "warm" colors they get dull and not as exciting.

If it were my light I would toss in a daylight(6000k) lamp or so. Or if you don't want more white Fiji Purple can help.

Many people will add one SINGLE 3000k lamp to really accentuate the reds and warmer colors. Problem is the lamp is orange and many people find it to overpowering.

Honestly just swapping in one daylight(save some $$ and buy GE ones) and you should notice some improvement with coloration

    Great!

Last time I was fooling around with the Quatum, 2 39w Aquablues had quite abit more PAR then 2 65w 50/50 PC lamps... I mean QUITE abit.

    Enjoy it!

My latest bulb combo consists of:

    blue +
    fiji purple
    aquasun 10K
    blue +

I love the color. Blue pluses run alone at dawn and dusk. (Love that look too)

My question is, might I get better SPS growth if I swapped the 10K for a 6500?
