The pure actinic is very weak on PAR. Definitely get the aquablue. If you have red colored corals get an UVL actinic white, it will make the reds and pinks pop.

keep in mind that one if one bulb goes out, both bulbs on the ballast will not illuminate. switch the bulbs around a little to make sure you dont have a bad ballast. i just went through that for the first time with nova extreme pro. (bad bulb, ballast was ok)

Check your ballast and wiring to see if there are any problems. Also check the end caps, Make sure they are not corroded. Make sure all of your wiring is firmly in place.

What size tank? Please give depth at least.

sounds to me like a problem with the fixture , maybe a short circuit
try the 2 lamps in the other sockets to see if they work
its unlikely that you got 4 dodgy lamps IMO so I reckon it could be a ballast issue on that circuit - if it where mine I would try and get it exchanged or if thats not possible , then get a qualified electrician to take a look at it , maybe a change of ballast on that circuit would solve the problem

clams question - yes I believe that with 6 working lamps depending on lamp type , clams could be sustained under T5 lighting

Should probably keep the clams on the rocks, mid way up or higher for crocea and maxima, derasa on sand should be OK.

so i just pulled the 2 bulbs out and moved them around. the 2 new bulbs were fine, but then 2 other bulbs in different slots when out. so i moved them back to how they were when the original 2 went out, now 4 out of 6 bulbs are out. but when i turn them slightly the 2 that first went out will light up for a breif second... wth these lights havent even been running for 1 month...

dodgy connections IMO, if its under warranty, Id get it exchanged
you dont want these issues , with corals in the tank or clams IMO
Stability being key for long terms success, you dont want 6 lamps becoming 4 lamps or worse on your inhabitants

hey everyone ! I currently have a 48" 4x 65 watt current usa fixture on my 90 gallon reef tank. Is a 6 bulb t5 setup by aquaticlife really much better or is it only a minuscule difference? I would like to have all kinds of corals except for the super hard corals. I am not really willing to spend more than 500. Supposedly there is also a 48 inch 8 bulb fixture...havent found it yet though...overkill?
