I pretty much figured it out. I think its the lights and the three power heads i have in the water creating all the heat. I took one out so i gotta figure something else out. If anyone has any suggestions other than a chiller would you please let me know.

    Thank's

Do you have a glass top? Do you have a sump?

80 isn't too bad. Some would say it's ideal.
Internal pumps will raise heat too.
You can always get a computer fan going - but just stay on top of evap.

Good call Matt. But, I may have to disagree with you on one point. I have 350W of MH lighting on my tank and I got sick of the chiller turning on every hour or so. I like to keep my temp at 77.7 and I had my chiller turn on at 78.5 so it was turning on a lot. What I did was add four fans to circulate air first over my overflow then around the canopy. End result my tank never breaks 78 degrees. Downfall is that I lose about 1 gal of water a day in my 46 Gal tank. To remedy this I got a top off system from AquaHub. Now my temp stays right where I want it and I have a lite kalkwasser top off. So, my advice is basically do what Matt suggested: add a few fans and make sure to watch evaporation. I personally believe your small temp changes are less damaging than the potential salinity change. The one thing I differ on is I don't like my tank to break 78 degrees. I don't know many corals that like temps above that.

Hey Dyngoe, I actually agree with you, I just said 'some would say' as meaning a lot of people, but not me. ;)
