So I am going to start up a nano tank...10 gallon....I think it would look sweet without the black trim on the bottom and top of the tank. Do you think if I take the trim off it will be ok and still hold h20???? let me know if anyone has done this?

I've never done it before, but it should work.. Just make sure while taking it off you don't ruin any of the silicon bonds.. If you do, just scrape off the excess and reapply silicone..

From what I understand the trim is necessary to prevent bowing. Not 100%, though.

Most of the trims are just to cover up the sloppy silicone job the company does.. And to hold the cover in place. They don't hold the tank together in any way. Besides it's a 10g.. It doesn't need any extra support..

Whats the worse that could happen LOL. is it worth risking coming home and having all your live stock laying on the floor dead and then having to spend hrs cleaning it up? If I really wanted a rimless/trimless tank then I would have a tank built or find one that is manufactured without the trim. The manufacturer puts it on there for a reason what ever it might be. just my opinion

i would say fill it with water outside and leave it for a few days. If is doesnt leak or come apart id say go for it. But be careful not to lean the LR on the glass?
