Tall Ship Project

Hi All
Thought I would share a project I'm involved with since its Sea related. I'm part of a non profit that is planning to build a replica of the USS Cyane, a navy ship of the Corvette class that was built in 1838. We have been historical advisors on movies such as Master and Commander as well as Amistad and a few others. If you are in the Monterey, Calif area, we have a few 20ft ships boats that were in Master and Commander that we sail on the bay and you would be most welcome to sail with us. We have announcements on our Facebook page or send me a PM or email and we will add you to our crew list.

 

Sure sounds like a wonderful time to me. Wish I lived closer, I absolutely love to sail.

 

I have always wanted to sail on one of those ships. I live around San Luis Obispo, so coming up would be a short drive.

Would love to visit New Orleans but unfortunately we are still years away on building the Cyane and have to be content with sailing our smaller ships boats. Trying to raise the 8 million dollars needed to build the ship in this current economy is difficult at best. Until things turn around, we are content to continue our research so that when the time comes, we will be able to have a very accurate recreation of the original ship.
