I recently bought an Eagle Eye colony from LFS and quickly discovered I had acquired a small family of stars (legs poking out around polyps). A few days ago they started to get brave enough to start roaming the QT.

I'm not sure if the one in pic 2 is the same as in pic 3 (were taken days apart), as there were at least 4, maybe more, stars in the colony.

Now they seem to be more adventurous...

They're about 3 in from leg tip to leg tip, not sure the pic shows that. So I guess they're either mini or just young. :)

Pics 1 and 3 in post one, and pic 2 in post two are definitely brittle stars. The other two, however, look more like spiny serpent stars. They're all juvies, of course. (Damn, you are lucky!) ;)

Thanks. I'm pretty sure they're all brittle stars since all have spines on arms. The camera resolution may not show as well as I would like, but they are there. :)

Would agree with luck sentiment... if my a/c hadn't died 3 days ago. Fortunately we had a monster storm yesterday and it cooled things down a bit. Now sitting at 83 deg...and holding I hope.

Spiny serpents have spines, too. ;) I was also looking at the larger central disk and slightly thicker legs. But perhaps it is the camera (or my ancient eyes- lol), so I won't argue the point. Either way, you're still lucky!

    Cheers
