I already have a blue/hippo tang, yellow tang. I would like to add a purple tang and a powder blue tang. The tank will be a 480 gallon reef setup. my only concern would be the powder blue. Has anybody had any experience with the powder blue with other tangs?

AS a general rule you never want to have 2 tangs from the same family, they will fight. So the familys are Paracanthurus, Zebrasoma, Acanthurus, Ctenochaetus, and Naso.

But a 480 you may be able to get some juv from the same family and have them get along. But there is some luck involved.

Ya the PB and the entire Acanthurus can be very aggresive

As long as there is enough food for all of them to graze on IE algae in the tank, nori or other veggies with a veggie clip everyday, you should be fine. Tangs get aggressive when there isnt enough food to go around. Ive seen a school of yellow tangs in a 500g tank in a guys home before BUT he kept nori on veggies(4 I think) everyday so they could graze all day long.

I would think you would have more problems regarding having two Zebrasomas in the same tank!!! I wouldn't go with a Yellow and Purple Tang in the same tank(unless adding them as juveniles together and at the same time) and that is still taking a chance!
