My yellow tang has been acting strange the past few days. I've had him for over 6 months, he's pretty good size, I'd say 4" or so. He started out in my 55, and has been in my 58 for a couple of months. He's been fine, but the past few days he swims erratically, twitches, etc. My water parameters are fine and none of the other fish are acting any different. He eats fine, like a horse actually, and shows no signs of ich. Anyone experience this with their Tang? Has he maybe outgrown my tank?
What are the beginning stages of ich?
    Thanks

I've had people suggest to me that twitching in some fish is just they way they are, and also have heard people say flukes... I have 5 tangs and a few of them only twitch when they are about to launch themselves across the tank... So I've come to the conclusion that its just them... for mine at least.

Do you employ a grounding probe?

i've had fish that do that on occasion too. i think they sometimes get stung by corals.

I think you may have hit on something dear Watson. No I don't, and don't know what one is for an aquarium. But...... I just noticed that my MH went off, per the timer, and now the Tang is acting just fine. Hmmmm......

Never mind, he's still being weird, though it doesn't seem near as bad. I don't have anything electrical in the tank, all my stuff is in the sump, if that makes any difference as far as stray voltage is concerned.

Could be a territorial thing going on,my yellow tang was "wigging out" for a few days after I placed a coral near the entrance of "his cave" where he sleeps.I moved the coral and he was back to normal immediately, they're weird fish!

My Whitecheek acted strange at around the 5 month mark he would hide and most of his color would fade. I began to get worried but after about a week he returned to his usual self. I would wait a couple of days before worrying too much.

    Amen :)
Voltage will still get back to your tank from sump through the water column.
