I woke up this morning and turned the lights on as usual, checked to see if all my guys we happy and noticed my powder brown tang swimming very strangely. Soon after noticed the white spotts on his sides and fins, he's got ich. He had it when i got him, and it went away for about a week soon after. He's been eating like a pig and not scratching on anything so i left him in my DT. Now is very obvious he's not happy! seems to enjoy swimming head on into a powerhead just staying with the current and doing some scraping aswell. I need advice on capturing the little bugger so i can begin a treatment....he's so fliping fast and not to mention as soon as i approach my DT he darts for a hidning spot. I don't want to make things worse.. help pleasee!

P.s : on my way to school, hoping to deal with this fully on my lunch break. won't be back to answer any questions for a few hours.

Try to use food to entice it out. Put some in a net and have a second one handy. If it made it through before it probably will again. Soak the food in garlic and Selcon to help it fight off the parasites.

The only way I could get any of the tangs or other fish was to pull everything out of the thank. We ended up with ich or marine velvet in our 125 and managed to lose a purple tang, powder brown and bi colored angle in one night. So whats left of fish are in a quarantine tank for the next month.

Good luck hope the fish makes it.

It's still eating like a pig...i decided to just leave it alone cause the added stress of trying to remove it might make things worse. I will now only take it out into QT if its stops eating. I started soaking the nori sheets in pure minced garlic and he seems to love it. not using it as a cure to make things clear, but using it as a immune system boost for the fish... garlic has alot of antiobiotic properties. He might be able to resist even getting infected in the future.

As long as he's got a healthy appetite, I wouldn't worry too much. If the ick get noticeably worse or he seems to pick at the food where as he once gobbled it up, then it may be time for QT.
    Good luck.

Best advice, leave him be as long as he is eating he should pull through. :)

PS be careful, they can do more harm than good.
