Tang not acting right.

    I see nothing in your params that would cause this. although, 8.4 is a bit high in the range IMO. that said if it is swinging rapidly from that to 7.9, you have issues with low alkalinity and that can lead to the PH swings. powder brown tangs generally tend to be high strung and VERY active. mine did this quite frequently in my 75.

    What tank are they in? the 55? if so it is likely to be stressed in that size tank with a NASO to boot. heck, even in my 180, my little atlantic blue does this.

    If it were me, I would just enjoy the show and so long as it is eating and exhibits no signs of disease, keep on keeping on. you will need to get that bugger into a bigger tank asap.

    They were perfectly find 2 days ago..

    yeah, the tangs will be in the 220 when its ready.

    Take a voltmeter and check for stray voltage. Put one lead in the GROUND of an electrical outlet (the big round one at the bottom center) and place the other lead in the tank.

    The reading should be something relatively close to zero.

    just an update.. everything is back to normal.. no idea what went on.. I did a water change.. but thats it.. I now have a sump and another skimmer on the 55 as well.. so thankful..

    Glad to hear that everything is back to normal. I had a problem similar to yours a few weeks back, but I actually lost 2 fish and could never figure out why.
