There seems to be a lot of debate on the subject so I am looking for an honest answer from those who have successfully kept a tang or tangs in a 75 to 90 gallon tank. Please include the type and how long you had them.

    Thanks

PS: Watch out for the tang police

in one tank- yellow tang (little over 2 years) and desjardini sailfin tang (almost a year now). Only issue is that the desjardini has HLLE that took a very long to go away.
In another tank- hippo (almost 2 years) and naso female (about 6 months). No issues other than some stunted growth.
Both of these tanks are being combined into a 300g in a few months. But honestly, I would be weary of putting any type other than a zebrasoma (yellow, sailfin, scopas) in anything less than a 100g.

Would a Kole or a Tommini not be OK also?

these fish are often found on guidance charts for tanks of 4ft or over
which does mean a 90 should be Ok for these bristletooth species

oh yeah! completely forgot about them lol... If you have enough film algae and detruis and stuff like that for them to eat then they should be perfectly fine.

I have a baby (2") hippo tang and a 3.5" yellow tang in my 75G tank. I have no problems with them living together.

I have a Purple Tang about 4 1/2" for arount 2 years and a Yellow Eye Kole Tang for around 1 year and both are doing great. The Yellow Eye was abused a bit when introduced but now does really well.

I've had a yellow in a 75 for 9.5ish years, with no problem. I think it can be done, but I was thinking about this the other day. While the fish may do ok, having a big fish in a small tank is kind of like a fat guy in a little car, it just dosn't look right.
