When I target feed my mandarin my tang goes insane and swims around eating all the food that floats around in the water column but is extremely on edge so the slightest wrong movement and it sends the tang racing around and in between rocks. She ends up bumping into them and getting abrasions on her sides. When one is about healed it ends up happening again. This is about the 4th time it has happened. Any ideas how to prevent this or if its a huge issue?

What kind of tang?I am assuming this is in your 90? Maybe try to rearrange the rockwork to give it more space or holes in which to hide.

My Tomini that I have in my 90 just dives into its hole when spooked. She has a huge ammount of tunnels but never bumps into anything.

This one is the same way but does occasionally bump the rocks going into the caves and passageways and gets scraped up.

Would it be possible for you to build a larger cave for it that will make it easier for it to go in and out of? I have noticed with tangs if you make one large tunnel they will stay pretty close to it. Abrasions on a tang would scare me. Make sure you are feeding it a good variety of healthy foods. Can you take a picture of the abrasions? Is it possible that these abrasions are from bumping into corals and not rocks?

Tank doesnt have any corals that could sting her, and I know when the abrasions have happened. Always when I spot feed the mandarin and she flys into her cave which is quite large. She fits in fine its just when she races into it. I will try to get a pic tomorrow.

120% sure. Her skin was perfect until one day I watched her race into her cave while I was feeding, when she came back out you could see where rock ran against her. Its like a skid mark from a car you can see where it started and ended. I have watched her skin heal 2 other times and then it happens again.
