I am so P***ed right now. I just looked over at my tank and saw my tang stuck against a Koralia 750 trying to get away. Rushed over and unplugged the powerheads from the tank. The damage is probably already done. I cleaned the tank a hour ago and apparently during the shutting pumps off and back on one of the Koralia's turned on in reverse and ended up sucking the fish into the face of the pump. The tang has a imprint of the face of the powerhead basket on her side and I dont really know what to do or if she stands any chance.

If you have a QT, I'd use it. I'm sure with proper monitoring and care your fish will make it. :)

Appreciate the idea though I think the stress of moving to a QT would make it even worse after the level of stress the fish has already been subjected to. I'm debating shutting off lights in a attempt to decrease stress but unsure if it would help.

I'm personally more of an invert person. Hopefully Cheryl or someone chimes in soon.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    OUCH!

You can try to add a little extra O2.

Just seems like lights off and stress reduction if possible would be my guess.

Tangs are weird, they act like their dying sometimes and be fine a couple hours later.

I don't think a healthy Tang would be sucked into a power head of any type.

I'm with Jason. I think there was something else going on. Although my leopard wrasse almost got sucked into an MP40.

What tpye of tang is it. Also can you get an image (without using flash) I think dimming the light would help, but mostly feed feed feed.

There are few problems with fat tangs.

Well, how big, how old, and what kind of tang is it?

It is a bristletooth (blue eyed tang), she normally feeds off the power heads. However like I said the powerhead is in reverse so instead of pulling water from a large surface area of the basket, it is sucking from the narrow face of the basket where she picks algae off. She is about 4 inches, I've had her a little over a year. Picture isn't possible, she has retreated to her cave and is just hovering. There is a distinct Koralia basket face imprinted on her side though from what I can see through the hole.

I see people make this remark about healthy fish not getting stuck in powerheads but lets be realistic the fish weighs what a few Oz? And normally feeds off the basket so if you are getting right up against something that is sucking at 750 gph over a area that's the size of a silver dollar...... Seems quite feasible to me. This isn't ocean current she is fighting, this is a concentrated suction.
