    Hi Guys,

I just found my blue tang sucked to the side of my MP40W. I had fed the tank some nori around 3 o'clock and everyone was fine. I found her about 45 minutes ago. I think that she just just too close to it and the plastic overflow cover and couldn't get away. I unplugged the powerhead and she swam away immediately. She seems to be swimming fine. Her left side has some marks from the powerhead but I can't really tell how deep they are. Nothing else seems to be damaged. I know there is nothing I can really do except watch her and keep her fed. I fed them some mysis about 30 minutes ago and she was eating like normal, so I don't think she got stuck because she is dying. I know that I posted a picture of her being skinny the other week, but she has really plumped up since then. I tried the metronidazole and focus and she seems to have responded to it. If anyone can think of anything to look for as far as an infection goes, or anything else that I can do please let me know. Thanks!!!!

I'd keep an eye on the tang. Most fish can get away from powerheads without a problem. Unless they are sick

    Thanks Jason,

I am definitely going to watch her. I don't know exactly how long she was stuck to the side. I know that it wasn't more than a few hours but think it was less than that. She is still swimming and is acting normal. The marks also seem to have faded a little. Thanks!!!

I had a hepatus get sucked into the input of an 802 powerhead. I freed it in time but it had grill marks on the side. It took a couple weeks for the marks to go away but it's fine now almost 2 years later. It got a few ick spots afterwards but they didn't last long.

Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine a tang getting stuck to a powerhead though, since my neon goby could avoid my MP40 just fine. I think you're right in still looking at possible healthy issues. Unfortunately I'm no expert on tang health but I would try and stuff it full. :)

    Good luck.

Have you thought about putting the foam protector that came with the mp40 on it? May help to prevent this from happening again.

Should do fine. The marks will probably pop back out in a couple of days. Tangs, with large surface area flat bodies seen to get suck places. I had a yellow blown onto a piece of live rock by a power head. Don't know how long it was there, but seemed to have injuries similar to your tang's. They were gone in a couple of days. Good luck!- Paul

Thanks for the replies guys. I apologize for not responding before now. She seems to be doing better. The marks are all gone except for one and the indentations are all gone. I still don't know what happened. I had looked into the foam protectors but decided against them since I didn't want to add something else I would have to maintain. If it becomes a habit though, I might change my mind. Thanks again!!!

If i remember right your little tang is a small one right, like tiny? Mine had an issue when I got him and my K3. Was still able to get away but you could see him struggle. (This was when he was maybe 2/3 of an inch. Now hes almost 2, and swims by them easily.

Either way, glad to see the tang is recovering!

Glad to hear everything seems to be ok. Might want to turn down the PH in the short term just to give the little guy a chance to recover. I'm sure that was stressful!
