Don't make the same mistake I did. Assume that it will happen again and protect the powerhead now. I lost a small flame angel to my 802 powerhead. He was dead by the time I found him. I assumed it was a one time deal and didn't worry about it. A couple weeks later I couldn't find my Hepatus tang. To my horror I saw his yellow tale sticking out of the input. This time I had caught it in time. The 802 power head was pulled out immediately after the second incident.

You got a second chance with your tang. Don't assume you'll get a third.

He isn't tiny and I certainly didn't think that he would get sucked in. I guess it says something about the Vortech pumps.

I'm not sure I agree with that assessment, that's pretty circumstantial evidence you have. The ocean currents tangs are used to swimming in are far more powerful than a powerhead can produce. Like I sad before, I can't imagine how a healthy tang could not escape a powerhead. Something must have happened out of the ordinary.

Well, the space that he was trapped in was sort of small and he may not have been able to get enough momentum to free himself. There is a difference in swimming in a current head on and one that has you trapped against something. And like I said, he may not have been there long. Just long enough to make a few marks. Not trying to create trouble, but he seems to be doing fine today.
