I'm debating between a Kole Tang or a Powder Brown Tang. Anyone have personal experience with either one? Maybe which one looks cooler in different lighting or which one is more fun to watch, etc.?

I really like powder blue tangs but have been told that it's too big for my 75. So I almost feel like my interest in the powder brown is me being stubborn and having the closest thing to a powder blue that I can have.

    Feedback appreciated!

I would go with the Kole. You can't have the powder either or brown. At best I would get a yellow tang instead.

Yeah, the yellow tang was a jerk. He bullied my flame angel, so I picked the angel over the tang

I would go for Kole Long term or a Different bristletooth tang, IF you did want the powder brown, it would have to be small, and at some point you would have to trade him in or resell. Just my Oppinion Though

Have you considered a Tomini? I get the feeling you are looking for something with more color than the Kole. They are very peaceful, and will stay busy cleaning your rockwork.

i think a 75 is too small for either of those tangs, try a yellow, it will fit great and wont get cramped in the 75. just add it last wo it doesnt bully.

I know that these things are completely different every time; understand that just cause it can happen doesn't mean it will work out this way every time.

    That said:
I had a Powder brown tang in my 75 for almost a year and then I sold it. Great fish, it is so beautiful. Super healthy while I had him. It was in there forever and I gave it tons of algae on a clip and it would eat mysis shrimp when I fed the rest of the tankmates. I love Powder blue tangs too, and that's the main reason I got the Powder Brown because I knew the Blue was too big. Again, it's all up in the air. Any tang you get in that tank is in need of "special attention" and extra chores. You have to make sure you feed it well, lots of algae, vitamins in their prepared foods, and consider making as much room for swimming as possible with the aquascape. Also, water changes to keep water quality at it's best.

With all this, You'll be able to keep either of those in your tank healthy. Try to get a smaller one, not too small though.

That's my experience with keeping a Powder Brown tang in my 75. Hope it all works out for you, whichever you pick. Happy Reefing!
