    Hello all,

At lunch today I got home to find that on one side of my blue tang there are two black marks (couldn't tell if they were sticking out of the side of him or not) and the area around the black marks, the blue tang has lost it's color. I'm wondering if my black spine urchin stung my tang? If so, can a fish survive the stings or is it more then likely he will die? Is there anything I can do?

Hey welcome to 3reef. you sure he didn't just rub on the rocks too hard? losing the color might just be stressed from what happened to him. My urchin never poked anyone. My fish in fact usually stayed away from him. can you get a pic?

    Thank you

Thanks for the welcome. It's great to be here. I will try to get a picture tonight when I get home from work. My tang loves to rub up against things, but I have them seen any "damage" from his rubbing, and I find it odd that there are two black things in the middle of the discolored area. I'm hoping it's not the stings of the urchin, from what I've heard, fish don't survive the stings.

if they are from the stings, there is probably noting you can do about it. maybe a qt tank and some antibiotics, to ward off infection. pics would help though:)
