I have had almost zero success with Tangs. The best I have done is a Kole Eye that lived for 2-3 months and then its color lightened and within a week was dead. I have since tried another Kole Eye, a Powder Blue, Naso, Blonde Naso, a Blue and Powder Brown. They all died within a few days to a week after I received them.
I have other fish in the tank that are doing well, showing no signs of illness. I have treated for ick as the last few tangs showed signs. Still no success. I understand that Tangs are a bit easy to get parasites, but I'm at a loss. Help and suggestions please??

    My Tank Specs:
    90gal
    Koralia 1400

    SG: 1.025
    pH: 8.3
    Ammonia: 0ppm
    Nitrites: 0ppm
    Nitrates: 0ppm

    Current Livestock:
Sixline Wrasse, Hoeven's Wrasse, Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse, Gold Sleeper Head Goby, Blue Head Combtooth Blenny, Coral Banded Shrimp, 4-5 Turbo Snails, 4-5 Hermit Crabs, and a few Cerith snails.

Do you get all the tangs from the same vendor?

Do you have any powerheads in the tank? How much liverock do you have? I had a Kole tang that discolored [from stress]. I bought 50lbs. of live rock which gave him/her plenty of new hiding spots. He/she was back to normal after just 3 days. How long has your tank been running? Is there plenty of algae [tang food] growing about?

Hmm.. i was going to say that maybe its the vendor's problem ... as there is a chance that they could be having problems with their stock.

however, LA has a really good reputation.. Id still try and see from an other vendor? maybe LFS?

    whats your type of acclimation?

I have a Koralia 1400, approx. 65-70 lbs of Live Rock, set up with plenty of caves, cracks, etc. for hiding and exploring. Algae is good and I'm also feeding algae wafers too.
My tank has been running for 9+ months. Before that it was running at my cousins house for 5+ years. We moved the tank and live rock as well as over 50% of the original water when we set it up at my house. All has been good except for the Tangs.

I use the drip method. I would like to be able to have a QT tank but I just don't have the space. As far as LFS, that sadly isn't an option. They have a horrible reputation, that unfortunately I have also experienced. They don;t know what they are talking about and only are around cause there is no competition, thus why I'm ordering from LA.
I guess I should say that the last few shipments from LA have been mishandled badly, by delivery company, not LA. Like, box upside down, water damage or dripping from box, etc. That hasn't been the case with all the orders though, so taking that into effect, I should have still had some success.

I have had zero luck with powder blues and browns but they showed signed of ich

What size are they that you are getting? I know I have had a harder time keeping little ones alive
