Are you able to special order from your LFS and you can request they call you before putting them in the tank?

I used to go to a LFS that had terrible water quality and were a bunch of idiots but the shipments they got were of good quality so I would request they hold them in the bag or show up on shipment day before they went in the tanks. Im not sure what the situation with your LFS is

Also try speaking with your delivery man, explain the fact they are live and tell him to be careful. I used to have a UPS man throw the box over our doggy gate until I told him it was live, now he gently places it on the floor its pretty funny :)

Yes, they are showing signs of ick. The last two were the Blue and the Powder Brown. The Powder Brown began rubbing itself on the rocks the day after I added him. The Blue was doing fine until last night, when he went from no signs the day before to being speckled with ick the next morning. Both were dead this morning. I was treating for ick too.

Do you add prime while doing the acclimation?

Remember the fish has been in the bag for a while. I sort of forget how the explanation goes.. BUT.. the point is that the PH of the bag goes down with the levels of oxygen on the bag and so does the toxicity of the ammonia. As soon as you open that bag, the oxygen goes in and the PH rises again making the ammonia very toxic.

Thats why many people only Temp acclimate and dump the fish right after when they dont buy locally. However, if you add prime that could solve that issue.

you were treating for ick? how?

their deaths are a little too fast for it to be ick.. It almost sounds as if it was marine velvet.

Good advice on talking to the delivery person. I did speak to her, sadly that hasn't made a change in how she handles. LA suggested adding the option to receive by 10am to help it not get tossed around in the truck all day.
My LFS, charges about 2 1/2-3 times more than LA on price per fish and then charges the shipping on top of that. Its crazy bad!

I think the size of the tang plays some importance. I have bought almost every fish from la and only had problems with small tangs. I have a powder blue that I have had for several months and is doing great. I had a blonde naso and a blue hippo that were around 2" and both died within 2weeks. My pbt is around 41/2" to 5". Maybe just coincidence but I'm sure the bigger they are the better they can handle stress. Jm2c

What's your alk at? When I kept loosing fish I found my alk was crazy high. And funny thing my prob was clownfish and tangs... Just one more thing to check if you haven't already..

We kept having what looked like Marine Velvet and our LFS said I highly doubt that... We took in a water sample and our KH was like 18 and he was like get that down! Ever since we have gotten it down to anything under 12 our fish have looked awesome! Corals look good too!

Yes, I am using Prime when adding any new fish.
It's Kordon's 100% Organic treatment for ick and fungus. It was recommended by several people, that it worked very well for.
Are you suggesting just to float the bags add some prime and some of my aquarium water to their bags, then add fish to tank?

All of the tangs were medium or small by LA's sizing.

more like, continue your drip acclimation but add prime to the bucket you have your fish in while acclimating. ( if you havent done already)..

Some people argue its best to just float the bag for 15mins and dump the fish right in for the reason stated above.

Ps.. the only true known cure for Crypto that i am willing to accept is Copper or Hyposalinity. Or just let it run its course and feed very nutritious food.. Its worked for me so.. The others not really..
