ok so its a little late to talk about cures as he died this morning, but can someone explain to me how a powder blue tang could be healthy and happy as a clam one day, look like death that night, and be dead in the morning. i had a pb tang in my tank and he was active nicely colored and eating like a champ. no spots nothing to worry about. i went out for an evening and when i came back the next morning his eyes looked sickly and his skin looked like it was peeling off. he was also in respetory distress. he was dead this morning when i got up. now it seems my saddle puffer is coming down w the same mysterious disease the tang had. i think its bacterial, but am not sure. i put him in qt and treated the water w an antibacterial medication... I HATE TANGS THEY CONSTANTLY RUIN MY FISHY LIFE

I just happens dude. My Red Coris Wrasse did the same thing. Not as quickly. But went from healthy to deathly in a matter of a few days. Tangs are very iffy when it comes to disease. So just practice good husbandry, keep your tank in line the best you can and that's really all you can do. Sorry for your loss man.

Powder Blues are one of the worst as well. There are not many Acanthurus tangs suited for the home aquaria - it always seems like the most beautiful too. Sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear about your PB Tang. They are one of my favroite fish, but like your experience I have had them looking great and then... poof within 24 hours dead

I have also been able to keep them sucessfully for years but only in large tanks (180g +), I have never had success with them in anything smaller than that.

Tangs look great but they are a pain...my hippo tang just got ich after a year of no problems, and a while back killed my yellow tang for no reason..
