I was thinking about getting one of those for my 46BF but I'm worried about the heat using Metal Halides (2X250).

I wouldn't use them, they can hinder gas exchange, light and become a PITA cleaning, I just hate adding extra maintenance issues to a tank, and yes, it can cause heat issues, I'd stick with what ingtar stated.

Hence, why I said it was just my opinion. They are boring and will prob kill eachother, IMO. And is staying DEAD STILL, still considered schooling?

yupp, great idea, and this comes from a former glass top lover;)

Gas exchange is only an issue if you don't plan for it ;) My 46 uses a sponge filter (which I do believe helps with gas exchange since it forces outside air into the tank and under the glass top, which forces the old air out), HOB 'fuge (thanks to Cosmo ;)), and a skimmer, which again pulls in fresh air. 10 gal QT has a glass top as well, but left the back plastic off and covered the openings with mesh. That tank again has a sponge filter, HOB filter and a skimmer.

Very little maintenance cleaning on the 46 that is almost completely covered though. I clean the glass top about once every 3-4 months. The 10 gal has some salt creep issues though, since it is open on the back as mentioned.

if one has a sump, gas exchange shouldn't be a problem either. I'm not one for using glass covers but I don't think they are the problem that they once were thought to be.

FYI PM me if you are looking for quality fish or corals - I make weekly trips to Peterborough from the Kingston area.

Most Tangs should not be housed in a tank that size, and if so it should be for just the younger years as they are only a few inches, tangs like and need lots of room to swim.

A smaller tang from the Ctenochaetus family would be fine as a permanent resident in a 72 I would think. Plenty keep them in 75's, and a 72BF is very similarly sized.

I agree, a tomini or kole would be ok.
