About four hours ago the center brace on my 55g broke at the edge of the glass, and the glass started to bow, I immediately drained the tank and put the resident hermit crabs in a plastic bin, then i attached the filter to the bin.

Is there any way to repair the center brace?

+1. Thats what happens whenever something goes out. And a lot of times even when something isnt broke...;)
Seeing this, Ive noticed most tanks have some sort of center brace. Mine doesn't. Should I be concerned?

if you think a 55 bows, try a 150. when the same thing happened to my tank i used aluminum angle and welded them together to replace the plastic then siliconed in place

    that sucks man UPgrade! :p

and yea aluminum sounds like a good idea,
    -dosent corrode
    -lightweight
    -strong!

i guess the plastic can absorb some of the salt and eventually dries out and becomes brittle...

If the manufacturer did not put a brace I wouldn't worry.
