OK, so everything is out and the tank, filters etc. are filthy. Scraped of the coralline and now was wondering what to do.

I was thinking of filling it back up with tap water and running it a few days with a little bleach or chlorine in there to clean up the real bad areas behind the rocks (on the glass). Anyone know if chlorine will hurt the silicone? I plan on replacing all the bulkheads so I'm not worried about that. After a week of that I was just going to dump in some prime, run for 24 to 48 hrs then drain it so I can store it.

The other thing i am not sure about is the rock. I was going to pretty much do the same thing, fresh water soaking, maybe a power wash, then just shelving it for the next set up. If I do bleach the rock is there any chance of the bleach leaching into the rock?

I have read more than once on this site that once bleached items are dry, all the bleach has evaported - I also know that to regenerate Purigen you soak it in a bleach solution

the above tells me not to worry about using bleach on your tank anyway - as it will easy evaporate off and be easy to rinse

rocks = not sure, - have cleaned rock using scrubbers and very hot water and left them to bake outside myself , never done any bleaching , hopefullly someone else will advise on this aspect
