I'm with everyone else here... I say go for it again. By the time you get a job and settled in the tank should be cycled!

Same thing happened to me. I moved and ended up cracking my tank when i was in the process.. so i craigslisted a new tank in a hurry. It had a small chip in the corner that i figured was fine.. set it up.. went to work, came home to a flooded apartment and all my corals and fish dead. The whole front panel cracked down to the very last inch and drained on my floor.. corals out of water for hours = death. Horrible! but i rebuilt, bigger and better.

well im sorry you lost so much! however on the upside you're in a much warmer climate, hopefully a positive outlook on a new life ahead of you, and what better than to have a new saltwater project to fill in the time gaps? :)

considering you have all the equipment necessary i would start atleast 'something' back up from the aftermath of the tank-crash...

    man that really sucks though!

i wouldn't worry about it, just keep it running for now, low maintenance, just kind of "wing it" dont' stress on water changes feedings maintenance etc.

just kind of let it run "on the back burner" so to speak... then take some time to find a job and think about what you're gonna do...

it'll be nice if you can even just have those little clowns chillin.

it is always tight starting a brand new tank, but you already lost 1200, no need to throw away money on your LR and such. plus your rock and sand are still pretty established... and there are countless critters that HAVE made it that you just don't see...

it's really up to you... but if you get out, you'll be back in before you know it!

good luck with the job search, it's tough out there right now...

biggs sorry to hear about your loss. i wouldnt give up so easily if i were you. youve got everything you need to redo. look at it as a rebuild rather than having to start from scratch, with nothing. cheer up dude

Jeez... I am sooo sorry about your loss... I can sympathize 'cause I moved from the US to Spain and lost my entire reef. Now I'm rebuilding a new 110g but it will take time ... the cost of the new tank and equipment almost killed me...
Just keep going... start new with frags and take your time. That's what I am doing..

Dont sweat it because you've got the equipment. Livestock in FL is way cheaper depending on how close you are to Miami, and if you can find an LFS that drives to the wholesalers in Miami then you can nearly steal fish and corals. Let this be a way to get rid of livestock you really didn't like so much or impulse bought, so you can buy the animals you really think are cool.

Thanks for the support everyone. I really do appreciate the heartfelt comments. I may start again in the near future. I still need to check on my pair of fake clowns, see if they made it through the night. I'll update you on that later.

Working for john, that would be awesome! He's a little far south of me to commute though :p

I guess, look for my rebuild thread in a few weeks, maybe a month. I need to plant roots somewhere before I can start building.

I had the tanks locked down, things growing great, corals being huge, etc...
