no its not bad because if you notice your leds basicly have no effect during the day if the sun hits your tank in anyway or even room lighting, its just beneficial to have a few hours of down time for your corals to relax the fish benefit from moonlight because predators are easier to spot rather than a tank being pitch black at night

what i do is about 12 hours of t5 no dusk to dawn and that whole shananigans just on and off, than about 8 to 10 hours of moonlights so i turn my tank on around 8am with t5s until 9 or 10 pm sometimes earlier sometimes later, than inbetween 4am and 8am the moonlights have little to no affect on your tank and that gives the corals a resting period the leds dont have a ton of light even though what you see is a pretty bright tank they virtually have little affect on the tank it just illuminates

Trap! thanks a lot! I kept hearing 7-8 hours of lights and thats it! I was confused because the LED box said 24 hour lighting... well going forward i'll leave the moon lights on over night and see how my tank fairs. I turn them on around 9-10 am and off around 9-10pm. You're right my moon lights are strong but when I turn on the room lights it distorts the effect a little.
