Hey I recently set up a 55g for aggressive fish..i used water out of my 125G reef to fill it up about a week and a half ago...i also put filter sponges loaded with bacteria out of my fuge in the 55g Sump and a few pieces of live rock that i had in the 125g...the day after everything was all set up my readings were still perfect...then about 5 days in they went wacky...my nitrites spiked, ammonia went up a tiny bit..figured it was doing its thing...then i just tested it today and everything is back to good...ammonia is 0 nitrites are 0 nitrates are 20ish...ph 8.3...is it possible that using the already cycled water, sponges, and microbacter7 and 2 damsels that my tank has cycled in 2 weeks?

I would say if you had an ammonia nitrite and nitrate spike and went back down then you cycled. :)

i was expecting a longer cycle but now i am excited..gonna test it again tomorrow, if everything checks out i'm adding a lionfish tomorrow :)

I'll get my Huma Huma on order...along with a puffer (val, and spiny)...I plan on raising them until they out grow the tank then replace them with small ones again! I'm stoked I finally can get a trigger!

It is very possible. I cycled a tank in a week, using old water and partial filter. You just never know. i did the exact same thing on another new tank, and it took a month. Go figure.

Amen, The Huma was the reason I wanted a reef tank. Then I found out they were aggresive and not for reefs. So I had to decide..Corals...Huma...I ended up with Reef. I still love that fish though!!!
