Okay I know I posted a thread like this earlier but its got even weirder. I have a 60g tank with 70lbs dry rock and 10lbs LR (cured or uncured? not sure) and 80lbs of dry sand and 5 lbs of LS. First day of the cycle I had about .25 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate, second day i didnt test, third day I had 0 ammonia, 1 nitrite 0 nitrate, fourth day I had 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 5 nitrate!! How could my tank possibly cycle this fast? I know my test arent bad and also the reason for the huge amount of nitrite on the third day is I added food to increase ammonia on the third day and to see if I had any dead spots. What I thought is maybe the rock at the LFS I bought could of been uncured, the guy working wasnt the normal owner. Could uncured rock speed up a cycle that much? Oh and also I have new growths of coralline popping up everywhere on my rock and also what looks to be some type of sponge.

Weird. I would keep testing for a week just to make sure because nature can be a cruel mistress. Did you add anything to "start" the cycle??

If you add PURE ammonia (need to reserch the correct amount for you setup) and its 0 in 24 hrs it should be done cycling. There are a few topics on that floating on the board. Research it more carfully though.

Just 10lbs of LR, I am not sure if it was cured or not. Could that be responsible for the quick cycle?

If it was uncured it would have started the cycle due to die off. Like I said, research the ammonia topic, it will help you. I had to add table shrimp to start mine off. I had one piece of LR to help seed my dry rock. Mine cycled little over a month. 4 days just doesn't seem right.
The cycle is to bulid up the bacteria to eliminate ammonia and nitrite. I don't think 4 days would have done the trick.

Don't do anything yet. Could be a spike in the near future!

could have been a quick cycle due to the LR and LS but im sure its not over. i would still add a table shrimp and make it go through a regular cycle instead of killing fish to find out lol
