tank cycling

Im going to be using the shrimp method for cycling but idk how long i should leave the shrimp in for before i take it out...also what other maintenance should be done to the live rock and overall in the tank

 

You can just leave them in there until you put your CUC in the tank after parameters stabilize. The CUC will eat it and there will be nothing left of the once rotting shrimp.

But it depends on tank size
what you plan on having in the tank, corals, fish etc

Personally i have a little of everything, crabs, snails, urchins, conch

 

Will any snails be ok or should it be specifics im only going to have community fish with LR

 

Id get a variety, cerith, nerite, astrea, nassarius should work.

If ya go to reef cleaners website they have recommended amounts for your tank size. I'd wait till ya see some algae growing, or you'll have to feed them.

yeah you can get prob 4 times the amount of cuc from him than you can at your LFS for even same amount of $$$

 

Yea im on the site now and the prices are incredible...my LFS doesnt even have that many snails as he has in one group
