Wow that would be just devastating. I just got back from a week in Alaska and my father came over and checked the tank out every day so I was a little at ease. The only thing that happen was the portable AC vent came off and one day it was not running due to a power outage and it won't reset after one of those. I also have mine hooked up so I can view it on the internet or just log on to 3reef and view my signature. Sure hate to see something like that happen.
    Hope you recover well.

Thank you everyone for all the support I was having thoughts of actually packing it in but I love this hobby too much to give up .It has been around 30 hours since I found the mess and things are looking better my water has almost entirely cleared up and too my surprise 1 of my yellow Chromis's survived the ordeal I have no idea how but there she is. I also see a few snails but that is all that is left .My big Mont cap is now a big beautiful corpse its all white and it looks like all of my zenia has disintegrated but my star polyp colonies are just closed up along with all of my zoas so I am hopeful they will come back I will update pics soon .

Hey guys well the tank cleared up in around 30 hrs and I have lost all of the fish but the one I bought snails and hermits this week to start cleaning up because I am getting a diatom bloom ( I guess I am goning to have a cycle now) anyway I took out some rock to get at all my dead livestock and I rearranged it a little . I bought this week the following (22) scarlet reef hermits (12) Crown top snails (Awesome eaters) the size of golf balls and smaller (10) Turbo snails the size of quarters. (1) urchin (green/white) the size of a clemintine orange and he is a great eater so far. (5) black and white hermits (2) big Cerith snails (1) lettuce Nudibranch. Now the diatoms and other crap is so thich that I can easily see everwhere the clean up crew goes and has been they are doing pretty good so far here are a few updated pictures

Time is the fixer :) Thats why I tell guys to not mess with the water its already out of whack , But in average 36 to 48 hrs will fix any of them Bacteria die off really fast thats the white haze as they die the consume the available oxygen in the water and thats about all thats bothers parameters are still fine . But bacteria will divide and regrow at very fast rates also ..

That fact the bacteria are so predictable is the reason many can tell you to the day from start up of a tank when what bacterium will appear and what will happen to the ammonia and Nitrites and such. Thats why I wait 3 months they often times will reappear at about 80 to 85 days for a few hrs to days .. Just take it slow and allow it to mature to peak capacity again .

I may be wrong but I would be really surprised if they have all died off. But if it was me I would just buy some from a reputable source and reseed them. It will only be a matter of time before they get back up to previous levels.

By the way Jim I don't have a clue how I missed this but I am really sorry to hear about it and I am really glad your giving it another go. Karma to you
