That center brace scares me. I speak from experience with my first DAS tank that the center brace was not wide enough. I would install 2 more and spread the load. My DAS split the entire front seam in a matter of 30 seconds and cost me $5k in damages to my old house.

Dude, all I can say is that your living the dream, well, at least my dream.....lol The day I hit the lotto, I will be doing something like that. I think thats awesome what you did with the garage. Reminds me of the Hienken(sp) commercial with the guys screaming and yelling like chicks when they see the guys closet filled with Hiekens wall to wall. The day that I step into your garage will be the day that I scream like a chick. And I may never leave your house too..................lmao

Let me know when you want to take your vacation. I'll bring my 3 to Disney and you can hang out here and watch the tank for me. It's a Win-Win

3 x 400W MH. I'm thinking 14k bulbs. I have a pair of IceCap 430 ballasts left from my 120 that would let me put 4 VHO actinics over it to bring in a bit of blue as well.

I'm still trying to decide which reflectors and MH ballasts to go with.

BTW, my LFS lights their 1200gal reef with 400W MH and it looks amazing. It is the same depth as mine. The foot print is twice as big (120" x 42") and they are running 9 MH bulbs.

I should knock on wood, but I'm not too worried about this for a few reasons. The glass is pretty beefy all by itself (1" thick). The tank has stainless steel angle-iron bracing all the way around the top and the bottom. That brace is an extra piece of stainless steel that is welded to the steel at the front and the back. The best use for the brace that we have found so far is that it gives you something to help push yourself up with when you climb out of the tank.

That sounds like some pretty beefy bracing, I dont think i would lose too much sleep with welded steel holding it all together! : )
