I would give more time for mixing just to be safe. If you can give it 12 hours. It looks as though the damage has subsided as the carbon is clearing up the water. You don't want to mess that up by doing a water change with water it's not ready. I would only do a water change with more water mixed for two hours if it was an absolute last resort.

Any updates on the status? I hope things are doing well. I just read the thread, your plan sounded like the best way to handle it. Do you have someone experienced to watch your tank while you're gone?

So far things a looking better. My tank was pretty clear when I left in the am, and ammonia was down to 0 again. It looks like I lost 2 acans and one sps and about a dozen small snails. Rest of the tank looks good. So I will count myself lucky on this one. I have a neighbor checking on the tank each day and my daughter (who is 9 but my reefing buddy) is going to check it each day as well (she is staying with my in laws while my wife and I are gone). I also have a dropcam installed so I can check the tank remotely as well...which on a side note...dropcams are awesome if you want to put in a easy webcam. I am totally non technical and I set it up in 2 minutes. Will keep y'all posted

+1! Finding the root of the issue is the biggest part. Doing water changes, and changing out old media will definitely help. Good luck!
