So we came home and go upstairs to my bros tank and his whole room smells like burnt hair and nothing on his tank is working. Upon closer expection his protein skimmer -a Odessea ps 75- overflowed and blew up the outlets. Now he has to move all his livestock (coral, fish, ect.) into my tank until he moves his tank to the basement. This has not been a good day at all.:-/

wow has been a rough day on tanks, sorry to hear that. On a plus note though, he is VERY fortunate that was all that happened......could have started a fire and destroyed everything.

Ouch! That makes my day seem better. My tank just decided to turn into a waterfall. No electrical issues with mine at least.

Wow, that's awful! I'm sorry! But he's so lucky a fire didn't start. My skimmer overflowed and started a fire.

    Scary stuff!

Make sure to plug everything into a gfci/ ground fault circuit interrupter power strip or something with a gfci rating. If water gets near it or if it overloads, it will trip the circuit. Sorry about the problem though

GCFI FTW! Like everyone said at least the damage was minimal and there was no house damage or more importantly nobody was hurt.
