What are your parameters, how many gallons, what type of fish, corals, inverts do you have? Kinda sounds like a spike in the water to me. How long have you had the tank? Sometimes tangs can fight till the death for terriatory in a tank not sutiable enough for the kind of species.

maybe a space issue. im not a expert by anymeans but i think for a tank to hold that many tangs would have to be huge like 180+

its 180 gallon tank..had it for almost a year now...the tangs have never really showed much agression ... just the sailfin and purple everyonce in a while...but ohter fish i have a lunar wrasse , clown trigger, blue ring angle, harlequin tusk, a zebra moray, and a white spot grouper.
i have no corals and just the one brisslt starfish.

by moving the rocks around your livestock might have to restablish territorym and for what its worth my opinion is that your pretty overstocked, even for a 180.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Unfortunately I agree, the behavior is probably influenced by a confined space. Yes technically the fish has what most would consider enough room, but you see this in some tangs secondary to captivity IMO.

I would cut back on some the larger fish and try some smaller reef fish, like wrasses and anthias.

so long as your paramters are in line a water change may only make it worse. it can be a lot of stress.

i would leave the lights off for most of the day for a couple days. might calm everyone down

if you have a good relationship with a LFS you might be able to have them hold some of your fish for a while a reintroduce them, or even better maybe redo you stocking
