    Hi all,

I have been hoping to get a tank for a very very long time, and am finally in place (house, financially, lifestyle) where I can set one up!

The forums are great, and taught me a great deal, but, I couldn't find an answer to one question....

The best place in our house for a 75-90 gallon tank is in front of our heater air intake (a grate about 1 foot x 3 feet). Is that a bad spot for it?

I don't know much about our heater, it is gas and sucks air in, heats it up and blows it out vents throughout our house. I think that the air is sucked in through this vent and from the crawl space.

My gut tells me that salt and moisture can't be good for our heater unit, but we just can't find another good spot for the tank to sit.

Thanks for any help answering my question, and for all the other information on this site!!!

    -Greg

I think you should be fine as long as heat isnt blowin right on the tank. if your tank stand has a back on it very little moisture will be sucked into the heater..just check to see if your heater has a filter that needs to be replaced and you can still access it.

    Welcome to 3Reef!

My current house and DT setup is in front of one of my ait intakes.
My house has about 7 of them though, so I don't worry about it.

You may want to make a mod for the vent- similar to an awning over an outside window.
Just a small one out of cardboard of plastic- to keep anything from the top out.
    Or, no mods at all.

We all like Pics here, so please post
