Just from my experience, I tend not believe that snails can live nitrates this high... as I had a nitrates spike in a separate tank due to a lot of sand getting stirred up... the tank went a day or so without any remedy and I had lost two of the same type of snails...I am new to the hobby, (just over a year) the tiger conch snails seem to have a lot of fortitude compared to other snails I have had but when the nitrates popped up... the snails died... BTW this nitrate problem was taken care of by two 33% water changes and I am back at 0 in that tank...also, two of the snails in that tank toughed it out and are still with us today lol

    Hi,

I read through your whole thread and have not seen any other test results suchas Nitrite, Phosphate, KH, PH, CA, Mg. I would like to see what your SG is too of your water and the temperature.

Another thing to ask, Is it possible that you have purchased CUC in poor condition? Do you always buy from the same source, petstore or Internet. Items through the post can get very stressed. Have you acclimatized before putting in the tank? Did you test the water the CUC came in? It isn't always a good idea to trust a store had great water :/

If all your other parameters are good 15-20ppm of Nitrate should not cause any concern :)
