Ok, so i noticed today that when i enter my room it smells, the only thing i can link the smell to is my fish tank. Is this a good sign of the cycling process or is this just normal for SW tanks.

I have also noticed that my chemcials are starting to smell really bad. When i open the door to where they are it reeks. I also notice that when i open the bottle of prime for my puffer's tank, that it reeks like no other, along with my test kit. Could the chemical smell mean that they are expiring?

maybe it's the prime then causing the room to stink up, i guess i'll just spray my fabreeze around the room.

Oh man that sucks about the snail smell from dying

The chemical smell from everything is normal.
So is the tank smell, really. You have the ocean, it's gonna smell like ocean ;) After the cycle is over, running carbon will remove the smell.

be careful going crazy with the fabreeze. Don't want to get anything in the tank. Nothing like that gets sprayed in the living room of my house where my tank is.

I've noticed over the years that smells emanate from the tank from time to time. Sometimes I'll open my front door and get hit with an ocean type smell. It's never been bad, but certainly distinct.

If you're smelling chemicals, hopefully it's after you've administered them into the tank. If not, make sure the bottles are securely closed. A bottle of bacteria solution, will smell of rotten eggs, or sulphur, but should not smell if the cap is on.

If the smell lingers 24/7 for a week or more, it might be something amiss. If it's temporary, then it's normal. I wouldn't sweat it.

As said, once the cycle is over – running carbon will resolve the smell. In my opinion once a tank is stable it should never smell if its well maintained.

As for chemical smell’s in a room – that’s curious to me and not normal. Chemicals are sealed with reason, its not healthy to breath in chemical fumes – all the more so when there is a combination of fumes.

Chemicals should be sealed – smell when opened to use, but not otherwise. I would inspect what you have to see if something is leaking or improperly sealed and resolve asap.
