well, my tank just finished it cycle and im gettin green algae growth on my live rock and on the top of the live sand.

what do i do to get ride of it?

-are there chemicals i use to does the tank?(would rather not use)
-are there certain marine life anmials that will remove the algae there and keep it under control.

i am enjoying my fish tank and the last thing i want is an algae pond.

im new to the fishtank world so please any info would be appreiacted.

What type of lighting do you run? How long are the on for?

Snails and hermit crabs will clean most algae off the glass and rocks. Just depends on the type of algae. Check out reefcleaners.org for great prices. John can even design a special CuC for your needs. CuC is your clean-up crew. Every tank has one. This is hopw most saltwater keeps maintain their tank without constantly cleaning it.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Perfectly normal to have an outbreak of GHA after cycle. Just make sure you are using RO/DI water, and not over feeding. It should start to die back, if not test for phosphates in your water source, you can do this at a local fish store. And if you can check the TDS there as well.

just wait it out, lighting is a recommended 8 hrs but that isn't in stone.
If you have no live stock just leave them off.

You will have an algae bloom after cycling but like already stated above it will go away. Also as coraline starts to grow your rocks will turn a lime green color before eventually turning pink and purple. Some people mistake this for an outbreak of nuisance algae.
