OFK I am so sorry to hear you are having issues.Get some masking tape.Tape off all the seams/ mouldings (That you can reach or easily access.). Wait a day or two and remove it slowly. Feel the tapes sticky side as you are removing it and see if you feel any water or salt. The tape works in several ways.It prevents the water from evaporating and traps salt creep it also protects it from splashed water caused by you.;).You will of course want to thouroughly clean the tank beforehand and use a good quality masking tape.(3m if possible) I do not know of any product that can be safely used from the outside of an aquarium nor would I want to experiment in this area.lol
I would keep a large, clean plastic trashcan or similar tub ready for use.In an emergency you can easily transfer your animals in a hurry if need be.These containers should be in every aquarium keepers arsenal for emergencies.;)
If the leak; if you in fact have one seems to be getting worse you may want to consider using the container until a new tank arrives.

Ok....I will order a new tank - *sigh* because I really don't want to end up scrambling when something does happen.....the paper towels in both corners have remained dry but vinny, your method sounds a little scary but would tell me for sure. I'm pretty sure there is a small leak....

I think the problem is as my name implies - I'm old and carrying this out will certainly not be a small job but needs to be done :) Thus the "search" for magical fix commenced....
