well here is what i decided... the guy who said he would give me the tank has no stand with it... so id have to go and buy one (but would rather build one so it is better quality) so now that the original plan of switching this weekend is out the door, i just decided to pack up all my corals and livestock and take it home to place in dads tank. looks like all im going to have to stare at for a few weeks is my refugium until i get another tank up and running :(
    thanks for the advice all

Well, at least you had that option. Good thing you noticed the leak.

I would have simply bought a rubbermaid agricultural trough and transferred it all to that (option 3).

whenever I need to tear down tanks to move etc.. I use full size coolers, battery-operated air pump w/ stones, small ph is available. the cooler insulation will help keep temps stable.

Suggestion: You could just goto the local Target/Walmart place, get one or two (double up) plastic totes that are 30-40 gal. They are pretty cheap, and put everything in there with the filter and circulation and light for a few days. That way you still have the cycled water and such set for the new tank.
A leaking tank is all our biggest fears, and I so feel for you. I wish you luck my friend, and let us know how it goes. K+ for trying to do the right thing.
