So basically, I sold off my freshwater tank and am going to put the furniture it was sitting on in the garage. The problem is, yes my SW tank is in my closet.... haha Basically my goal is to my the saltwater tank (while on the stand) into the past location of my 20 gallon FW tank (next to the mini fridge). My idea is:

Step 1: to drain almost all the water out of the tank into a few 5 gallon buckets
Step 2:Move that dresser out into the hallway so my roommate and I have an area to move around with.
Step 3: I will move between the wall and the tank.
Step 4: We will attempt to lift the tank and stand (shouldnt be more than 175 pounds, [its probably 50# stand + 30# rock + 20# water + 20# misc.].
Step 5: Get stand and tank against wall where the current furniture is next to the mini fridge, and fill the saltwater in 5 gallon buckets back into the tank.

    What ya think??

Put the rock in the buckets with the water and keep abut 1" of water above the sand. Should save you a couple of pounds of lifting and make things a little easier. Maybe save a pulled muscle or three on each of you.

Well we are fairly strong college students so i think we can handle the weight fine haha. Also, I really dont want to remove the rocks considering I do not want to have to rescape, stir up detritus everywhere, and also i dont want this move to mess with my new coral polyps.

I just moved my 55 hex. All I did was drain out 2/3 of the water so every thing stayed covered. And my roomie and I picked it up and moved it. We figured it probably weighed a solid 350. I am sure a couple "college boys" could handle that. lol

picked up just the tank or the stand with the tank ontop? Cause im worried if we try to pickup just the tank, the weight of the rock will blow the bottom glass out...Im going to draign at least 10 gallons out of the twenty out.
