I'm moving my tank to a new house and I have a couple of questions. Should I use the old water or new water? And what should I do with the sand?

    IMO, the response will be,
use as much of the old water as possible,
the sand things a mixed bag, no pun intended.
If it's a SSB, a quick rinse maybe.
If it a DSB- established- most would say go with new sand and seed it with some of the old?

+2 except I wouldn't try to save all the water. There really is little benefit from using it unless you need to save money/time.

Agree with everyone else. Use a minimal amount of sand to seed the sand bed and use as much of the old water as you can. Using a lot of old sand will cause all kinds of waste to recirculate into the water column resulting in a nitrate spike etc.
