its probably a bit late for that coral
    but

    the reason I asked is
on your soft corals, like the toadstool for example
all the polyps are facing 1 uniform direction
and thats the case for many of the corals in your image
thus I assumed you had turned all water movement off (which many do when taking images)

what is your flow at present?

cannot say for certain as I do not have all the information
but based on the images, I would suspect that there is not enough flow in that area for the acro

which may explain why that coral has not done well for you

also do you run carbon - as with that many softies in the set up, you could be looking at the results of chemical warfare if you do not

when it was set up i have a scwd that alternates the waterflow from the two returns, one on each side of the tank, and then on the right side i have a maxijet 1200 with the cone attachment to spread out the water flow...currently not running carbon, how do you run carbon, what does that involve doing?

    Hi Muggle
Carbon can be run in a reactor, which maximises its efficiency by keeping it lightly tumbling and thus helps to expose more surface area to polutants

it can be run in a mesh pouch in a cannister filter
it can also be placed in a mesh pouch in the path of flow in the sump

but last method is probably least efficient

returns that alternate and 1 maxijet 1200 even with modification in a 120 gallon tank
may not be ideal for any corals requiring higher flow such as some Acro species

but if you increase flow, then many of your softies and LPS may feel less comfortable IME

it may explain the demise of the acro - may not, its always difficult to accurately ID issues

as your tank looks great, as it is, I do not think I would change things for the sake of 1 coral, which perhaps is not best suited to that enviroment or that specific location in that enviroment (It may have faired better closer to the MJ or one of the returns but again its impossible to say with any certainty)

totally agree, thats why when he goes, he goes, im not gonna worry about it, the blue tip staghorn is happy as is my green acro, tough to tell, diagnosing things is always tricky, i think i am pretty much dun with additions of corals, maybe 1 or 2, but its at that point where i want to give them their space to grow, plus were expecting our 1st so when that baby comes i can forget about adding to the tank, thanks for taking time to respond to my questions.

    welcome muggle

focusing on the soft corals sounds ideal with a new baby on the way
congratulations to you and your partner
