tank ready for live rock

    ok i was told that get live rock before a light and that is what i'm going to do.

    i have a 30g breeder tank and i have people telling me

    60 lb or rock
    30 lb or rock
    15 to 25 lb or rock i really do not know

    i think 20 lb or rock might be good. and what type of rock should i get what is the best for reef tanks can anyone help me

    I prefer the 1-2 pounds per gallon. You can buy base rock or buy liverock on craiglist. Whatever is cheaper imo.

    OK i just went out to get my live rock and i put it in.i got 21 lb of live rock going to get about 10 to 15 lb more rock.

    when i have my rock in place and ready to go what should i be looking for, that shows me that I'm ready for the next step?

    and is 36 lb of rock ok to put in the tank?

    Yes it is ok. Add rock before adding your sand to the tank. Do you have a test kit?, if so test your water for nitrite, ammonia and nitrate. You know your ready to add fish if your nitrite and ammonia are 0 and have nitrates.

    Add rock before sand? Why is that?

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Provides a more stable foundation for the rockwork. Should some creature undermine the sandbed the rocks are less likely to fall.

    Well what if I have egg crate in there already along with my sand? I'm just waiting on my base rock to come in from reefcleaners, I should be ok huh?

    talking about sand when i get my tank going and it start getting dirty i was told that you should not vacuum your live sand.?

    if this is true how do you clean your sand.
