tank smells like the beach??

    have not seen my starfish in a while and lost a big snail. (died). if a sand shifting starfish died would it come to the surface or stay burried in the sand?
    would hate to drag the bottom for bodies.. lol

    If you see it then get it out of the tank, if not then the clean up crew will get it. I would run carbon if your not already.

    The sand sifting star will stay buried if it dies, that's one problem with them, they can starve to death and you won't know it for a while. As Otty said, run carbon and maybe do a water change, you could always buy a chlorine test kit if the smell gets really bad.

    When I read the topic I misread it to. I was thinking why would a missing starfish make your tank smell like bleach. LOL;D

    it is a saltwater fish tank and the beach is saltwater lol
