For my 120 g DT (200 g working) I have 2 150 watt (glass) heaters. One is set about .5 deg higher than the other, so far, only the one cycles on...

You could put a blanket around the glass.

I'm likely to get slammed for this, but both of my heaters came from WalMart... not very expensive, perform as advertised, and it is true that they are not as safe or durable as the titanium heaters mentioned earlier...

Your tank has been this way for a week...??? Don't worry about another night. But try not to let it go another week. I run my tank between 74 and 76 and your not that far out.

If you go 2 buy them at a lower wattage to prevent frying your fish if one sticks on. The second one will keep your tank warm enough if you need to replace one that dies. Place the heaters on opposite ends of the tank or sump to ensure proper heating.

i picked up two hydor-theo 150w titaniums for my 75gal from a 24/7 meijer for my 75gal and like someone else mentioned one of them doesnt ever turn on. its there for backup only.

i got two 150's because the 300w version was 18" long versus the 12.5" for the 150w.

as for your question on how high they go.... ive seen 1000W heaters for aquariums so the sky is the limit like much else in this hobby

to temporarily heat up your tank get a bunch of water bottles full of hot water and put them in your sump
