ok ive had my 55 gallon tank up and running steady for 2 weeks. it stays at a steady 75deg F. all day long. i was wondering if this is the proper tank temp.? now i live in south florida and it doesnt really get to cold here (low 40s at worse) should i get a heater for my tank? i dont want to get it to late and lose my tank. thanks any info on tank tempertatures would be great. I would get the heater, when it's not needed it will be off. With your tank temp being so low, any temp drop could cause problems so it's better to be safe. I would also try to get the temp up a bit, maybe 77. I'm in MA where it gets very cold, in the winter I keep my tank 77-78. In the summer, all heaters are off and the tank runs 79-80

Yeah I live in Fl. too and I ended up getting a heater, if you go out of town in the winter and your heat is off or down too low you tank temp will drop too. We go hunting and I didn't want to worry about my tank. I have a FW & SW 55 gal. Just alittle input ;)
