I agree with Crimson. The pieces you have in the glass are the bulkhead fittings. Then connectors are glued in. See the threads on the outside, that is what I was talking about.

Perhaps Crimson has a better connector, but I used one form home Depot. In my build thread they are the grey pieces. You can see the difference in different fittings. You want bigger ones and nice and streamlined. What you have is very restricted with those barb pieces joined.

Just to add to what has already been said, I'd mount any plumbing that has to run across the stand (ex. from the bulkheads on the right, to the left side of the sump) to the back wall using plumbing straps.

I'd personally connect the bulkheads to the rest of plumbing with flexible PVC. I like using flexible PVC for turns as much as possible because you can give it a large and gentle radius which is better for flow. Not to mention it allows for some wiggle-room/adjustment if it is ever needed.

Barb fittings are terrible for flow. Even though you have 1/2" and 1" hoses, the barbs are then inserted inside of that hose reducing the diameter, as well as creating unneeded obstacles since it isn't a smooth path for water to flow through.

True union ball valve. Don't glue anything yet until you get it all done just in case you make a mistake.

You screw in a threaded to slip connector and start coming down with some pipe. Go from there. Once you get to the store and look at all the fittings, you will see. It's easy. You just need some length of pie. The put it together with fittings. Put a valve in as suggested for isolation.
