The tank to tank move starts tomorrow. Looking forward to aquascaping the new tank and arranging all the corals in it. Not looking forward to all the hard work:-/ Hopefully the livestock doesn't stress out too much.

    good luck Travis

is the new tank going into same location as existing tank ?
if so it means you need temp accomodation, while you strip, move, and then replace new tank

throw out the existing sand and that will reduce the chances of parameter issues IME

I agree about the sand. I did both last year, I moved up from a 65g to a 120g in the same spot. That was rough in that the 65 had to be totally broken down. Then I moved up from the 120 to a 210 with the 210 on another wall. If you have any questions about the move just pm me and I'll be glad to add my input. Good luck!;)

Yeah I have a really big rubbermaid for my corals and fish. Going to pump that full of water add my back heater to it and run a smaller PH on it. Then I'm going to fill my Brute Trashcan up with the rest of my water and put my LR in it. I was going to leave my existing sand in my tank with a little of water and use that to rinse it off. Then throw that in buckets while I set the new tank up. I might buy new sand then though, after seeing the few comments. Do I have to buy all live sand because thats going to be pricy?

Nah, just take a cup of your old sand, and put it on top of any aragonite sand of the right particle size.

Ok that sounds easy enough. Do I need to hit a LFS for aragonite sand or will Home Depot sell that stuff?

I did this with new sand as well. As said above, I used a little of my old sand to seed the new (not live) sand. The transition went smoother than expected. Good luck, it's a PIA, but worth it!!!

New tank is aquascaped, sand added, and so is water. Tank is up to the right temp, just letting it clear up. Really like the aquascaping I achieved.
