I'm assuming you will be mounting the tank on a stand, right?

This can help you distribute the weight a little more if need be. For example,
If you have the chance to custom build a stand you might want to build it in this shape /_ rather than the traditional |_| rectangle shape. Thus distributing the weight of your 120G over a much larger square footage, and obviously decreasing the amount of pounds pressuring each square foot. (I can help you design this if needed)

This combined with supports holding the tank to solid beams on the back wall would make it full proof.

Let's also think math and logic for a second now. A gallon of water weighs approximately 8lbs. 120G will weigh about 960 lbs. If we're dealing with a standard 120G tank the dimensions are 48x24x24 meaning the base of the tank covers 8 sqft. If the 960 lbs of water were distributed evenly to those 8 sqft that would equal about 120 lbs per sqft. Now unless you are a very thin person you should already know that the floor on the 2nd level of your town home is built to hold more than 120 lbs per sqft.

To ensure safety I would through a level on it to make sure the floor is leveled out otherwise this can cause trouble. Other than this I think your 120G tank would look very nice on the 2nd floor of your town house. ;D
