    Howdy 3reefers,

I thought I would post a tank update..

Here is a pic from February 28th 2006 if you want to see how things have progressed.

    Anyways... here we go:

Here is a shot of the full tank. Click Pic for Larger One.

Here is a pic of my new clam.. it is about 3". Click Pic for Larger One.

Pic of one of the blue legged hermits.. this is the only one that has moved into a larger shell.. Click Pic for Larger One.

New shrooms. They are more metallic green than the pic shows... Click Pic for Larger One.

Here are the Zoanthids.. There are 2 typs on the rock along with their lil xenia buddy. Click Pic for Larger One.

Here is my largest xenia.. This is the piece that seeded the sprout next to the clam. Click Pic for Larger One.

Side shot of the reef face.. good view of the green star polyps too.. they are much more bright green than the pic shows. Click Pic for Larger One.

Here are the yellow polyps which I have propagated around the reef.. You can just pick off a polyp and stuff it in a hole.. in a couple weeks its got buddies... Click Pic for Larger One.

I need an ID on this plant/algea.. The color is very accurate in this picture.. it came on the GSP frag when I got it and has since continued to grow.. Click Pic for Larger One.

ID needed on this one too.. This is the one that concerns me most.. It is primarialy contained to just the one rock.. I'm not sure if I should get it out or not.. I'm afraid that it is some sort of red hair algea.. it is very plant like though.. and actually very pretty.. Click Pic for Larger One.

Another shot of the red stuff in the above pic.. Click Pic for Larger One.

That's red algae. Leave it your tang should eat it. Your tank looks GREAT!!

    Reef Lover,
The tang hasn't touched the red algae.. Interestingly, most of my green algea is gone but the red remains.. The tang mowed the green stuff so much that you could see it packed in his gut but it wont touch the red stuff..

    GKW,
I hope the clam does ok.. I'll keep a close eye on it and move it higher in the tank if necessary.

You'll want to rid yourself of the red algae if the tang isn't eating it. It can become invasive. If you keep your phosphates and nitrates low and your calcium/magnesium/alkalinity high, it should choke the algae out.

As for the clam, croceas are the MOST light demanding clam in the hobby. Move it up closer to the lights now if you haven't already. I don't think it will live long with PC's but seeing as it's only about 3" at the moment, you may be able to keep it alive by feeding phytoplankton.

Tank looks great. How long has it been set up?
I agree about the clams. Hopefully you will have good luck there.

The algae looks like Halymenia. I've had it before. I liked it. In my case it was well behaved.
